# A Timeless Medicine for the Soul <span style="font-size: 13px;"> <span style="color: black;">Planted:</span> <span style="color: gray;"> 29 September 2025</span> </span> Today, the *YouTube* algorithm decided to bless me with one of the most beautiful live performances I have ever had the pleasure of watching: "From Past to Present" by the great *Jeremy Soule*, performed by the *WDR Funkhausorchester*. <div style="position:relative; width:100%; height:0; padding-bottom:56.25%; overflow:hidden;"> <iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/o5mU41YusfQ?si=8rokNy2P3LWHKpIw" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen style="position:absolute; top:0; left:0; width:100%; height:100%;"> </iframe> </div> Once more, it made me wish for video game music and its composers to get the recognition they deserve. *Skyrim* has one of the most beautiful and magical soundtracks of any media I have ever listened to. To quote a fellow commenter from the 10th anniversary concert's *YouTube* video: >Skyrim's soundtrack is a timeless medicine for the soul Ever since I discovered its music (which I actually did long before playing the game), I have held the wish for it to be played at my funeral one day, specifically "From Past to Present" and "The Streets of Whiterun." Most of the video games I know were truly blessed with some of the most beautiful compositions I know of. Some of these, and this might trigger some connoisseurs of classical music, I rank well above classical pieces by composers like *Beethoven* or *Mozart*. #thoughts #music --- <div class="button-row"> <button id="like-button"> <span class="material-symbols-outlined" id="like-icon">favorite</span> <span id="like-count">0</span> </button> <a href="Write Something" class="bookmark-link internal-link"> <button id="comment"> <span class="material-symbols-outlined" id="comment-icon">chat_bubble</span> </button> </a> </div>
