Exploring new mediums can be a truly humbling but also rewarding experience.
I've been wanting to get into traditional sculpting for a long time now, but in the past I sadly never had the space for all the resources needed, let alone a place where I don't need to worry about it getting 'dirty'.
Yet with me having now created a little home studio with an own dedicated space for such endeavors, I finally started my first clay sculpting experiment this year. It certainly wasn't the best idea to start with a full on character, while never having worked with basically anything used in clay sculpting, be it the clay itself (monster clay) or the tools, yet it lead to me already learning a lot during the process and also being introduced to an incredibly supporting Discord community.
As I wasn't happy at all with how the sculpture turned out, I decided to leave it as a first, unfinished experiment for getting a first feel of the material and tools, but I'm certainly planning to dive deeper into the matter and create more traditional sculptures in the future.
Due to that, I created a new branch on this garden, simply named ==Sculpting==, where I'm going to start documenting learnings (both traditional and digital btw!). I'm currently doing a little photo series for [[Building a Clay Sculpting Base|its first entry]] on how I created the sculpting base, which I really love, considering I went completely freestyle with the resources used to build it.
